EDSS - College Counseling

  • Our college counseling department has a combined 50+ years of counseling experience. We help you navigate the college application experience with ease. Our services range from assistance with a small piece of the process or all-encompassing assistance.

    Our services:

We specialize in holistic guidance for academic applications, adopting a 100% customized approach that caters to each student with whom we work. We manage virtually all aspects of the college application process, including academic positioning, college list curation, standardized test prep, application essays, and interview coaching. We also provide services for prep school, college transfer, scholarship, fellowship, and graduate school applications.

We draw on decades of expertise in college- and university-level teaching, administration, and academic counseling. We have taught thousands of college students, advised and counseled hundreds of students in pursuit of their future endeavors, and evaluated thousands upon thousands of student essays across disciplines and at all academic levels.

We collaborate with our students to craft a full-spectrum portfolio that best showcases their strengths and interest areas. We highlight what the student offers uniquely to a particular university or college, emphasizing the full range of our students’ achievements to ensure they stand out to their top choice schools.

We concentrate on finding the best fit academically, socially, and financially for each student with whom we work, finding where their individual array of talents and goals will thrive most fully.

When it comes to student writing, our goal is to empower students with strategies for developing the confidence to generate compelling academic and professional writing. We believe writing is a form of self-knowledge. We get to know our students and give them writing exercises that tap into their special intellectual interests and creativity. We love building student confidence as they realize their own voice through their writing.

As parents of college-age children, we know well that every family has hopes, needs, and concerns when it comes to finding the best college for their children and launching them into the world. As parents and counselors, we recognize a real need to bridge the expertise provided by high school counselors and higher ed advisors, and we are here to help families meet their goals.

99% of our students get accepted into their top choice schools, including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Penn, Duke, Northwestern, Stanford, Vanderbilt, and West Point.
